Time for challenges is right around the corner

Well it is right around the corner...January 1st, 2009. What a better time to begin a new challenge. It has been some time since we have done the Running Challenge and as fun as it was I don't really want to do that one again especially with Ironman training beginning on February 1st, 2009. I've listed the challenges on the side bar. The poll closes on December 28th. So please help me decide which one would be good or maybe you think I should do them all.

For the past two days I have been looking through the IM books and trying to decide which training schedule I am going to be taking on. The outcome is "be Ironfit" by Don Fink. I used this training schedule for my first IM and thought it would be a good time to give it another go. I've been reading through my books a lot and am super excited. The training schedule is a 30 week program. The first 10 weeks is the base phase, but with all the training I have been doing for the Goofy Challenge I haven't lost my base. I figure it will be a great time to get my extra strength training workout outs in.

Today I had a 20 mile run. I managed to get in 17 miles before I had to call it quits. I was thinking that maybe I should not have had all those coolers yesterday. Oh Well...I was celebrating another successful semester at school. I got an "A" in "Fitness Program Design" and a "B" in "Leadership Development". I am pleased with those marks especially since I had to juggle around so much this semester with work, the kid`s schedules, and studying. It was a challenge. Next semester I am taking only one course.

Christmas---only 4 more sleeps away. Can you believe it? Last Monday I finished the kid`s "Sleeps left till Disney World" calendar. We have decided that on Christmas Eve when we are over at my parent`s place celebrating that we would blind fold the kids and put the calendars around their necks and then face them towards each other. We will then tell them to take off their masks and hopefully they will look at each others calendars and read them and figure out that we are off to Disney World in a mere 15 sleeps. Here is a picture of the countdown calendars....So everyday the rip off the sticky to reveal a picture of a Disney Character. I`ve actually done a few touch ups to the calendar so that the "15 more sleeps" sticks out a lot, so that they can spot it quite easily.
