Kamden tunrs eight

Today I figured out the disadvantage of having to leave for work at 6:30 am. Today is Kamden's 8th birthday and I was going to miss seeing her first thing to wish her Happy Birthday and watch her open her ginormous card that we got her along with a certificate that entitles her to a brand new bike as she has outgrown her old bike. While I was on the treadmill this morning and Trevor was on the bike I told him that I really feel bad that I have to miss seeing her open her present and he said why don't you just wake her up before you go. I wasn't too sure if this was such a good idea as kids that get up early tend to have rather rough days, but I decided that I would take the chance. So off I went to wake her up at 6:25am. Surprisingly she was quite pleasant. So we all headed to the living room and she opened her card...I did take some pictures and I will try to get it up by the end of the day...She loved it and was thrilled to see that she was getting a bike from us. Off to work I went...the kids dropped by my office at 8:30am to say Hi, which they do every morning. Kamden had on a tiara and a flashing Happy Birthday badge...that's our Kamden. This morning the kids had an Assembly on Integrity and Kamden go to stand up in the middle of all the kids and they sang Happy Birthday to her...what a treat!!
Working out is coming along now. I still HATE getting up early. Usually the alarm goes off at 4am and Trevor, Mr. Gung Ho, gets up and gets ready to go and exercise. I just lay there and I say to him I'll do my workout later on this evening. As I lay there to go back to sleep I feel guilty and I usually get up and get on the treadmill. Man...it is tough to get these workouts in. Only 3 weeks till IM training starts and then I'll have to get to the pool in the evening...I am going to be wiped out. Luckily there is a pool that has lane swimming from 8-10 pm, so that will work out better for me...better than having to start at 9 pm and end at 10 pm.
We signed up for a few races...my next race is a St Patrick's Day run a 10km...the race is not actually on St Patty's Day, but somewhere around that time and then the Police Half at the end of April. The next race is the Calgary Marathon, which has been moved to May 24th (I believe that's the day). After that the only scheduled thing is Calgary's Half Ironman on August 2nd and Ironman Canada on August 30th. Obviously, I would like to get more smaller runs in there...ideally half runs...still working on getting that sub 2:00...maybe this will be the year.
Work is going good and keeping me busy. I am now a part timer when it comes to blogging. I wish I had the energy to blog in the evenings, but all I want to do is go to bed after I've made supper, made lunches for the next day and cleaned up a bit. Blogging has taken a back seat.

Valentine's Day has arrived.

glitter-graphics.com

Wow two posts in two days this is highly unusual for me. Yesterday at work (school) everyone was celebrating Valentine's Day. Every time I passed the secretary's desk I had to dip into the chocolates. I, of course, had to justify this by saying to myself it was a special day and because I did end up going to the gym and working out for 1.5 hours prior to starting work. I brought a pretty healthy lunch as I had plans to be "healthy", unfortunately, all of this got thrown out of the window when the mother of the secretary made some homemade tuna casserole for the office staff as well as butter tarts. I am saddened to say that I ate 4 of the mini butter tarts. Then last night we went to that Chocolate Party. I am officially chocolated out. Way too much goodness that happened there. The Jazz music was nice. I haven't listened to that kind of music for a long time. FRESH START next week --- a new week.

It is a long weekend and Trevor has written out our schedule of what the weekend entails. It looks like by the end of the long weekend we should have our treadmill and elliptical set up by the end of the weekend...YEAH!! I am so excited about that. Hopefully everything will work out today.

Almost Valentine's Day...time is flying by

Finally the routine is coming together. I love working full-time, however, I don't love having to come home after have worked all day just to clean the house. Luckily, my lovely husband has been helping me tremendously. Actually on Saturday I went out to my friends place for a card making party and when I came home the laundry was done...two loads, washed, dried, folded and put away. How lucky am I to have him.

On Tuesday we got our new gym equipment. I am not sure if we thought the whole "gym equipment in our basement" idea enough as by the time we went to move the treadmill downstairs...all 260 lbs of it...Nightmare...our stairs curve and....there was almost tears. We did it though...we got it down. I do have a lot of bruises and am extremely sore from helping. Poor Trevor...his back is in pain and he is doing the "Frozen Ass 50" (ultra marathon) on Monday.

Workouts have been going good. Since I now have a desk job I really notice my energy levels dropping if I don't get my workout in. I just feel like a blob. I have been having a bit of trouble getting up in the morning. I manage usually two days of the week. I think we have solved the problem though. Last night I set up our bedroom light to a timer that automatically goes off at 4am. When this morning came it went off and it was so bright....we were up quick. Worked!! Alarm clocks are just meant to be re-adjusted and snooze buttons are way too convenient.

Today at school we have jump rope for heart, so it is a fun day for the kids. I am looking forward to today. It is nice to see all the kids involved in activity.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day...we are off to Chocolate (to the tune of love). Our church is putting it together. It was $12 and we get a chocolate dessert as well as there will be 2 chocolate fountains. They will have jazz music. It should be nice. The kids have a pizza party while at the church at the same time...nice!!
