Fun Times for Kamden and Simon

Kamden and Simon had a super busy week with Swimming Lessons in the morning and Jazzercise Camp in the afternoons. I think that I was more tired out then they were by the end of the day. I do not know where they get the energy.

Let's just hope that this weekend is a good one for me with the Calgary Half Ironman. I feel under trained, but we'll see how it goes. Hopefully I can scrounge up as much energy as the kids have for my race on Sunday. We are dropping off the bikes tomorrow afternoon in Cochrane as that is where the swim takes place. I am SO nervous!!!!

I am tired....

We just got back from our whirlwind holidays last week. Unfortunately I didn't blog and post pics like I said that I was going to do. It seemed that everyday when we finally got back to our room I was just too tired and the last thing I wanted to do was write a blog. Our trip was a lot of fun and we managed to see a few more States including New Mexico, Colorado (which I LOVE and hope we can go back soon)and Wyoming. The majority of the trip was brought on by temps in the high 40's, so coming back home to temps in the 30's was almost chilli :) Some of the highlights of the trip were Las Vegas, as it usually is. We spent three days there and on the first day I put a $20 bet on four baseball games and won $292...yeah for me. I got a Pandora bracelet, which I have wanted for awhile. We went for a tour of the big dam in Page, Arizona, we went to one of the water parks in Phoenix, which was a blast. Saw the Phoenix Zoo. Went to the Diamondbacks vs Marlins game in Phoenix and the day before we had a tour of the stadium...very cool. In Colorado we saw the Colorado Rockies play the Diamondbacks and the kids and I got on the big screen...that was pretty exciting. Along the way there was lot's of shopping, shopping and more shopping.

Now we are safely home and life is crazy with the kid's having swim lessons in the morning and jazzercize camp in the afternoon. Today while they are at camp I will go to the gym for a run. IM Calgary is this weekend and I am freaking out. I feel very undertrained, but am pretty sure that I will survive through it. The run challenge proved to be more difficult than anticipated when we ended up at hotels with no fitness rooms...running in 40 deg weather was not something I was going to do. So realistically the run challenge will have to wait till September.

THE BIGGEST NEWS....Our Simon turned 7 years old last Friday.....Yeah for Simon. He is so into lego and has been doing really big lego projects, which he received for gifts. I think it is his new passion.

Till next time....

fun times on the road

We have safely made it all the way to Page, Arizona in three days. So far it has been a lot of fun. The weather is Hot, Hot, Hot. Yesterday our temperature gage in the car reached up to 38 degrees.

So this is what we did so far...the first night we made it to Butte, Montana and the next morning we were out of there before the 4th of July parade started. People were lining up and saving their spots along the route just like us Calgarians do for the Stampede Parade. Then it was another day of driving to Springville, Utah. Unfortunately there was no gym at our hotel in Springville, so we had to wait till the evening to get my run in for that day, but everything worked out just fine (depite having to run after having a Margarita at Fiesta Mexicana in Page, Arizona). Yesterday was about a 6 hour drive to Page. By the end of the road trip the kids are needing to get out and move around as we all are. Before we got to our hotel in Page we took a tour of the Glen Canyon Dam, which was pretty neat. Ever since I have known Trevor he has had this huge interest in Dams and even though a Dam Tour was not something that I would jump for joy about I knew that Trevor really wanted to do it, so we decided to go behind the scenes for a 46 min tour. It was actually quite interesting and the 45 mins went by fairly quickly. We got to our hotel, checked in, and went for supper. Once we got back to the hotel Trevor and I went to the gym while Grandma took the children to the pool and then we went back to the room to settle for the night.

Today is a new day and we are off to the Grand Canyon. It has only been 4 years since we have last seen the canyon, however, Trevor's mom has not seen it in over 20 years (not that it changes much). The plan is a nice picnic there and then off to Flagstaff for some more good times. Tomorrow we are in Vegas for 3 nights and it will be nice to just be stettled somewhere for a few days. Well enough about the trip...I will hopefully post pics soon.

Something New

Back when Kamden was in grade one she made a bird house. The bird houses were built really well, but when Kamden brought her house home we really didn't have anywhere to put it. It ended up on the patio deck and we told Kamden that the chances of a bird actually making her birdhouse a home was slim to none. Two weeks ago when I was doing yard work I noticed that a bird was flying in and out of her house, so I decided to peek inside. Lo and behold there was a nest with 6 eggs inside. The bird is a Wren (that is what my dad told me). It finally happened the eggs hatched (4 of the 6). I didn't see them hatch but they are definitely brand new. I looked yesterday and they hadn't hatched then, so I figure it happened early this morning. I took some pics...

Only one more sleep till we are off on The Road Trip. We finally got it all packed and even some of it already loaded in the van. I can't even tell you how stressed I get packing for me and the kids and making sure that Trevor had all his stuff together. All in all I think I did okay and I think I have everything. I guess only time will tell.

I began the running challenge yesterday as I thought July 1st would be a good time to start as well as force me to get in at least a run everyday while on holidays. So as before the rules are I have to run at least 20 minutes a day and it has to be done before midnight. Last time I made it just over 200 consecutive day...I believe it was 214 days if I remember correctly, but I'd have to look at my past blogs to find out. That was quite an accomplishment, but we'll see how it goes this time around.

+++++Trevor just informed me that it was 205 days of running consecutive days+++++

I have a new camera, so I will be taking and posting pictures on the blog daily and I will try to post a little update on what we do everyday.
